The Amazon Prime series Off Campus is a worldwide phenomenon. People are loving the adaptation of Elle Kennedy’s Off Campus series – even to the point of some saying the television version is better than the books! A bold statement!
I love both for what they are and having read the entire collection of Briar University universe titles, I’m feeling the hangover hard. So, here are some suggestions for what to read next to *try* to move on from Garret Graham. Or Dean. Or Logan. Or Tucker. Or Allie. Or Justin… cough. Ok. Right, you get the point.
My Favorite Sports Romance Books Like the Off Campus Series
1. Beyond the Play Series by Grace Reilly
If you’re looking to stay in the college athlete realm, pick up Grace Reilly’s Beyond the Play series. The four-book collection focuses on four siblings who each play a different sport at McKee University. The first book even has a tutoring-turned-more trope to set the Off Campus mood!
I personally enjoyed breaking up the different sports (with football, hockey, baseball, and volleyball all getting representation), and the hard topics are presented in a way that makes them real but not suffocating; very similar to Elle Kennedy’s approach.
- Book 1: First Down – football, fake dating
- Book 2: Breakaway – hockey, coach’s daughter, sneaking around
- Book 3: Stealing Home – baseball, sunshine/grumpy, bisexual FMC
- Book 4: Wicked Serve – volleyball/hockey, rivalry, secret romance

2. The Nest Series (and More) by Piper Rayne
If you’re looking to spend your summer deep diving into a new book universe, Piper Rayne has you covered. She has five interconnected series that will keep your favorite characters alive for a total of 23 books…so far! These main characters are playing professional sports so we’ve left the college world, but the sizzling spice, team camaraderie, and familiar tropes follow along!
I admit I started in the middle of this reading order (The Nest series got me hooked) and have yet to finish the Hockey Hotties series (thanks to my app cutting me off for my voracious reading habits), but even going back to fill in the characters’ backstories has been a joy!

3. The DC Stars Series by Chelsea Curto
I read the first book in the DC Stars series two years ago while traveling. Couldn’t get my hands on the others in a timely fashion so I moved on. Fast forward to writing this post, and I found myself listening to the audiobooks of Chelsea Curto’s Love Through A Lens series which are – surprise! – in the same universe as the DC Stars series! I am now much more committed to reading the full slate of titles and can’t wait. I am thoroughly enjoying the range of Chelsea Curto’s work and immediately fell in love with the characters from Face Off.
If you’re all in on sports romances this summer, don’t sleep on Love Through A Lens series. They’re a refreshing shift from all-sports all-the-time, but maintain enough ties that they scratch the itch. Below is the recommended reading order from Chelsea Curto’s own website!
- Love Through a Lens Book 0.5: Camera Chemistry – doctors, instant chemistry, forced proximity
- Love Through a Lens Book 1: Caught on Camera – football, fake dating, friends to lovers
- Love Through a Lens Book 2: Behind the Camera – football/soccer, nanny to lover, forced proximity
- DC Stars Book 1: Face Off – hockey, enemies to lovers, forced proximity
- Love Through a Lens Book 3: Off Camera – football, enemies to lovers, found family
- DC Stars Book 2: Power Play – hockey, fake dating, marriage of convenience
- DC Stars Book 3: Slap Shot – hockey, slow burn, found family
- DC Stars Book 4: Hat Trick – hockey, workplace romance, friends to lovers
- DC Stars Book 5: Sin Bin – hockey, friends to lovers, forced proximity
