It’s Monday, here’s what we’re reading!

by Joli

Welcome to our first “It’s Monday” post! We’d love to hear about what you’re reading. Here’s what we’re up to this week!

Aubrey

Matriarch: Queen Mary fish-have-no-feet last-christmas

I’m currently reading Matriarch: Queen Mary and the House of Windsor, as well as Fish Have No Feet and Last Christmas in Paris. I’m just about done with the first one, which is a great bio of this remarkable woman. The latter two have been harder to get into — mostly because they’re book books, while the Queen Mary book is an audio book, and I’m on the run like usual!

Becky

daughters-of-ireland

I’m actually between books (gasp), but am hoping to start Santa Montefiore’s Daughters of Ireland soon. If you haven’t read my review of The Girl in the Castle, do it and then I dare you to tell me you don’t want to read both!

Janna

swing-time

I’m reading Swing Time by Zadie Smith. The writing is incredible and the story is unlike anything I’ve read in a long time. I’m excited to see where it goes.

Joli

outlander-book-1

I finally decided to take the plunge into Outlander. I just started the first book this past Tuesday and I’m absolutely loving it! Definitely planning on reading the entire series. I will confess, I quit the book I was reading for September book club, One True Loves by Taylor Jenkins Reid. I just couldn’t get into a light girly read right now, and life is too short to read books you’re not enjoying.

Now, tell us – what are you reading?

Good for you for bailing! I embraced the DNF a couple years ago and it totally changed my reading life!

Ha! Love it! I know what you mean, it felt really liberating to just say nope, and just move onto something I”m loving instead. I think I too will embrace the DNF attitude!

Just started reading Briar Rose – a WWII type retelling of the Sleeping Beauty story. I had the same reaction to Outlander, but didn’t even finish the second book in the series. Outlander was so engaging and exciting that I had super high hopes for the rest of the books. I heard they are up and down so I might give the 2nd book another try just to get to the 3rd.

Oh no, really?? I saw that all the books have over 4 stars on Goodreads, so I was hoping they were all good! I just ordered the second one from Amazon….half way through the first. I’ll have to let you know what I think of the second!
