How Wonderfully Odd is a very sweet kids book that I think you’ll like! Read on for my review.
The Synopsis
Join Obie and Bitsy on a high-flying adventure as they take on the challenges of a bright and unfamiliar landscape. With the help of some “wonderfully odd” new friends—including an acrobatic squirrel, a sharp-shooting frog, and a gentle giant of a badger—the little night creatures come to understand that what makes us different is also what makes us special.
They return home from their rollicking day of exploration sleepy but inspired—with new ideas about self-acceptance, friendship, and the power of kindness.
This big-hearted tale is brimming with humor and charm—and is brought to life in dazzling watercolor illustrations by award-winning artist Rory Haltmaier. A great read aloud book to share with babies, toddlers, and children of every age—parents, teachers, early readers, and advanced readers will all be swept away by this heartwarming story!
My Review
This is a very sweet book that’s pretty much just as the synopsis says. I love the whole concept of something being wonderfully odd. Odd and different are wonderful!
It’s fun to find out which daytime animals the nocturnal animals meet, and find out what it is about them that’s also odd and unique.
I also really like the watercolor illustrations. They’re hand-drawn and lovely, and the animals are so cute!
Overall I think this is a great book for kids. The whole “what’s different about us makes us special” message is such an important one to teach kiddos, and I think this book does a great job of that. So, thank you Rory for Obie and Bitsy’s story! My daughter and I both enjoy this one 🙂
