Cathy

by Joli

Occupation: Freelance translator (German and Spanish into English)

City: Lüneburg, Germany

Preferred Genres:
Translated fiction
Cosy fiction
Magical realism

Favorite Books:
The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern
Howl’s Moving Castle by Diana Wynne Jones
What You Are Looking For Is in the Library by Michiko Aoyama, translated by Alison Watts

Reading Habits:
My favorite type of reading is holiday reading. I always download a new book onto my Kindle (apologies to those who hate them, but I find it so practical) and if it’s a good book, it’ll usually only last me the journey there. I’ve recently got more into cosy fiction, stories that leave you with a warm, fuzzy feeling, stories that are easy going and just chill. I read a lot of fiction in translation (usually in English or German, occasionally in Spanish) and I love that works in translation give you the opportunity to discover a whole new world of reading, as well as different perspectives on our world.

I’m excited to be joining LQ as it’ll give me the chance to share the books I’ve loved with more people.
